BIOGRAPHY
Lori Myers’ passion for the written word began before
entering kindergarten when she learned to read (thanks to
her brother Jerry).
Born in the Bronx and raised in New Jersey, she
preferred books instead of toys at a very early age and
drove her parents crazy whenever they walked by a book
display.
Writing her own stories and poems soon followed and
even her teachers took notice.
It was only after graduation from Temple
University, attending the master theater arts program at
Villanova University, and working in corporate America, that
Lori came full circle and rediscovered her real passion -
writing.
Lori has a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from Wilkes
University.
Lori is now an award-winning full-time freelance writer
with over 500 articles, essays and creative non-fiction
pieces published in over 40 publications. Her work has been seen in national magazines, such as
AAA World, Writers’ Journal, Sondheim Review, Rug
Hooking Magazine, and Renovation Style.
Regionally, she is a regular contributor to
WITF’s Central PA Magazine,
Susquehanna Style Magazine, and
BusinessWoman.
Her subjects of interest have ranged from arts and
entertainment to health matters, home decor, travel, and
retirement issues.
She has written profiles of national and regional
figures, as well as on noted authors like Mark Rotella
and
Jonathan Green for the Lancaster
Literary Guild’s publication Rapportage.
She has written extensively and presented talks on
the Holocaust, and interviewed survivors about their
experiences.
Elsewhere in the publishing arena, Lori was a
contributor to the Stage Directions Guide to
Directing, available at
amazon.com.
She also is a writer of thriller and horror fiction
and her work has been published in PHASE. She is presently working on a novel.
By using a touch of humor or a dash of poignancy, Lori
enjoys finding out and writing about what makes people
tick.
She likes getting under the skin and to the core of
her subjects, many of whom have remarked during
interviews “Gee, I never thought about THAT!”
She encourages students in her
writing workshops to use those same
insights in their non-fiction and fiction work.
Lori is also a co-founder of the
Central Pennsylvania Writers’ Consortium,
an organization started by local writers committed to
sharing their craft and spreading the word about the
joys of expression and creativity.
When not at work at her computer screen or in front of a
classroom, Lori has been seen on stage in numerous
professional and
local theater productions.
Favorite roles include Maggie in
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Rizzo in
Grease, Marjorie in
Extremities, and Ursula in
Vincent In Brixton.
Lori shares a Pennsylvania home with her husband, Jay
Miffoluf, and their precious Westie, Willy.
