Whoa, little doggies! Now don’t go jabberin’ about how there ain’t nothin’ to do around the old homestead. Right down the road a piece and up over Bloomsburg’s yonder hills is a bit of fun like you ain’t never seen.
It’s the Benton Rodeo and it’s a place so jaw-droppin’ and eye-poppin’ that you will never be the same old cowpoke you were before you high-tailed it up there. There’s bare back ridin’, saddle bronc ridin’, brahma bull ridin’. Heck, there’s all kinds of ridin’. Even the ladies get in on the fun when the cowgirls go barrel racin’. What a sight to see. Then it’s payback time when hurtin’ riders show off their steer wrestlin’ and calf ropin’.
This place been around since 1985, startin’ with the Benton Frontier Days Championship Rodeo which only lasted two days. Well, folks took a likin’ to it and the rodeo is now a six-day event, July 11-16, includin’ a Fun Horse Show, fireworks and lotsa vittles for you hungry ranchhands. Stuff happenin’ here been written up in dem dere fancy rodeo magazines and been the talk around Dodge City and Lancaster.
Now there ain’t no sense gettin’ gussied up. Jus’ come out and sit a spell. Ya’ll come up now, hear?
